Waypoint - providing HELP ALONG THE WAY
Waypoint is seeking a courageous, supportive individual who has a passion for building positive relationships with vulnerable youth. The Peer Navigator plays a crucial role in supporting young individuals facing potential housing crises. Using a dynamic approach, Peer Navigators engage with young adults through calls, texts, and in-person interactions as needed. As representatives of their diverse peer group, they serve as positive role models, bridging the gap between youth and Waypoint or other community service providers during a housing crisis. The Peer Navigator and Youth Navigator operate collaboratively and within a larger team and are also part of a coordinated community of care dedicated to addressing youth and young adult homelessness.
This is a Part-Time flexible position (20 hours per week). Familiarity with the Concord, NH area is preferred.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Connecting with youth that are experiencing a housing crisis and offering intentional peer support, outreach materials, and other necessities.
- Timely contact within 24-48 hours of the Youth Navigator’s initial connection is crucial and will entail ongoing contact until the young person’s situation has stabilized.
- The geographic region includes the entire Balance of State, so the Peer Navigator will maintain contact with young adults via email, text, phone calls, and using apps, whatever is most convenient for the young adult client.
- Build and maintain positive relationships through a non-directive and collaborative approach, utilizing empathy, a strengths-based orientation, trust, and respect.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Education: High School diploma/HiSet/GED
- Experience: Youth aged 18 to 25, with a focus on uplifting those with lived experience of homelessness and/or housing instability.
- Candidates with prior lived experiences to include homelessness or systems involvement strongly desired, to include child welfare, juvenile justice, diversion, mental health, and or substance use.
