Behavioral Health Team Secretary – Outpatient Clinic

The Behavioral Health Team Secretary assists the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner team in providing care to patients with a variety of behavioral health concerns.  Functions include: answering patient and health care agency phone calls, booking and rescheduling appointments, beginning electronic notes, assisting patients seeking referrals, results, lab orders, records, and other information.

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma. HiSET, GED or equivalent.

Experience:

Experience working in a health care environment is preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
Bi-lingual skills helpful.

Roles and Responsibilities:

-Monitors the electronic medical record (EMR) and CPS scheduling systems.
-Schedule patient appointments as directed by Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners via desktop.
-Processes providers’ lab orders.
-Calls and makes appointments as directed by Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners.
-Faxes and records successful transmission documents prepared by Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners.
-Prints and mail/faxes records approved to be released per Amoskeag Policy.
-Updates patient medical records by inputting data into the flowsheet.
-Covers Health Screening duties as assigned.
-Accesses and utilizes internal and external resources to assist with care coordination.
-Assists patients and providers with initiating virtual care visits.
-Maintains confidentiality of patients and related documents at all times.
-Provides exceptional internal and external customer service to patients and staff at all times.
-Reads and responds to email in no more than two business days, inclusive of internal newsletters and announcements.
-Attends and participates in Amoskeag Health staff meetings and other meetings as directed; to include involvement in committees as requested. If absent, responsible for reading minutes of meetings and signing the documentation.
-Attends mandatory safety-related and infection control in-services as assigned.
-Maintains sensitivity to cultural diversity of population served.
-Assumes responsibility for special projects as assigned by supervisor.
