Medical Billing Manager

Reporting to the Director of Revenue Integrity, the Medical Billing Manager is responsible for providing subject matter expertise in the functional areas of billing, collections and bad debt, payment processing, denial management, accounts receivable finance operations as well as all other aspects of the revenue cycle process.

Reporting to the Director of Revenue Integrity. This position supervises Patient Account Representatives.

Qualifications:

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent required

Experience:

Must have at least 5 years of medical billing experience
Must have at least 3 years multi-specialty, physician billing and collections practices in supervisory role
Knowledge of Business office procedures
Must have working knowledge of Medical Billing and Collection Practices
Prior FQHC experience a plus, but not required
Prior Athena Centricity experience a plus, but not required
Medical billing and terminology
Ability to supervise staff and department processes
Ability to prioritize duties for self and staff
Ability to communicate clearly with people in person and with various technologies
Ability to pull reports and interpret data – strong Excel skills

Roles and Responsibilities:

-Assign and prioritize duties for staff
-Monitor compliance with policies and procedures and implement new ones as needed
-Monitor Billing and Collection activities
-Approve all adjustments and refunds (patients and Insurance companies)
-Interview, hire and train new patient account representatives
-Keep staff updated with insurance companies changes, coding issues, compliance issues
-Monitor clinical policies and documentation guidelines as they pertain to billing
-Assist patient account representatives with difficult accounts
-Perform administrative management duties including timesheet approvals, scheduling, approving time off requests, mentoring, training, evaluations, etc.
-Hold weekly staff meetings
-Import, post and review charges and payments
-Edit, prepare and transmit clean claims
-Review and work clearinghouse rejections
-Appeal denied Claims
-Respond to Patient inquires
-Respond to Insurance inquires
-Responsible to forward accounts to Collection Agency
-Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations
