The Training Supervisor designs, delivers and coordinates training programs on a variety of operational topics for warehouse employees with a focus on improving the productivity and safety throughout the operation. Coordinates and supervises all new hire training, refresher training and cross training. Supports safety initiatives by actively participating in safety audits and inspections within the distribution center and provides recommendations to improve the over-all safety of the operation. Drives continuous improvement to the operational and safety training by incorporating feedback loops through interviews with newly trained associates and through direct training observations.

Coordinates and supervises all new hire training, refresher training and cross training. Supports safety initiatives by actively participating in safety audits and inspections within the distribution center and provides recommendations to improve the over-all safety of the operation. Drives continuous improvement to the operational and safety training by incorporating feedback loops through interviews with newly trained associates and through direct training observations. Acts as an ambassador for new associates to ensure that they are provided all tools necessary for successful transition to the seniority list.
The training supervisor shift starts at 12:00pm.
Supervise the Dedicated Employee Assistant (DEA) program and prioritize work allocation, training, and problem resolution.
Works collaboratively with risk management team to reduce liability through training, education and awareness.
Develops and implements record keeping procedures of training records and maintains training records in accordance with applicable regulations, policies, and standards.
Maintain training records for all warehouse trainings including but not limited to observations, checklists, and exams by recording information into a database; report completed training blocks to designee for review.
Recruit and train DEA staff.
Develop and formalize Warehouse training program. Updating training materials as required.
Schedule and track cross training, re-certification training and refresher training; track new hire progress (productivity) and compile data.
Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices, in order to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.
Recommend new programs, policies and procedures and assist in their creation.
Perform behavior based safety observation audits on warehouse employees
Evaluate employee performance to ensure they are meeting or exceeding production, safety and housekeeping policies and procedures.
Develop recommendations and implement actions that motivate employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
Address performance and safety issues through counseling /discipline, and consulting with Operations, HR and union representatives as appropriate and/or necessary.
Supervise personnel in multiple areas of the warehousing support in all phases of order fulfillment and warehouse operations as needed. This includes interviewing and hiring, assigning work, evaluating and reviewing performance, initiating salary adjustments and reclassifications, approving payroll documents, counseling /discipline, and consulting with union representatives as appropriate and/or necessary.
Prepare reports and correspondence; design needed forms involved in training and warehousing processes.
Participate in the development of operating goals and objectives for the warehouse; recommends, implements, and administers methods and procedures to enhance operations.
Schedule meetings with new hires to explain productivity standards.
Ensure Powered Industrial Equipment operator observations are complete and approve authorizations to operate the equipment.
Actively participates in safety committee and shift start meetings.
Builds and maintains positive relationships throughout the warehouse and with other AGNE departments.
Performs regular check-ins with newly trained associates to evaluate the effectiveness of the training and the individual’s ongong development needs.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Associates degree in related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
Proficiency is MS office applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Access, Power Point).
Ability to analyze and interpret data.
Basic math skills
Critical thinking skills
Ability to speak to large groups
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work and communicate effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
Knowledge of the English language
Strong organizing and coordinating skills.
Ability to supervise and develop staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
Basic knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry specific safety practices
Attention to detail
Ability to work independently
Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals.
Knowledge of warehousing methodology and material transport procedures.
Ability to determine product, equipment, and supplies usability.
REPORTING TO THIS POSITION: Warehouse trainers
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, and/or loud noises.
Ability to work varying shift schedules.
No or very limited physical effort required.
No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
Some work performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
Some exposure to extreme cold -20 degrees.
Ability to stand, walk on hard concrete surfaces
