Associated Grocers of New England is currently looking for an experienced Human Resources Generalist that will provide leadership, consultation, and expertise across a variety of key HR focus areas, including but not limited to employee relations, performance and talent management, training and development, and HR compliance. The HR Generalist will provide support to the HR Manager in driving and implementing HR strategies and business solutions (i.e., organizational behavior, change management, employee engagement, performance and talent management, policy implementation, and communications).

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

The HR Generalist will act as a strategic business partner with the assigned business unit of our New Hampshire Corporate Stores. Diagnose business challenges and work with management to develop and implement strategies and solutions to best resolve those challenges.  Explore alternatives solutions and recommend best fit solutions in alignment with business goals. Ensure policies and procedures are well understood and adhered to by all employees as well as act as liaison and advocate for employees to management.  Foster positive working relationships and employee engagement.

This position will help drive organizational talent initiative, focusing on recruiting, retaining, developing and training staff with specific emphasis on building future leaders and developing talent. Assist in resolving complex employee relations issues in a balanced, fair, and objective manner, using appropriate counseling, investigative, intervention and mediation techniques. Ensure performance management practices are consistent and complete and that regular coaching and counseling sessions take place and are documented. Participate in and facilitate activities and special projects as assigned. The HR Generalist is also expected to develop strong relationships and partner with hiring managers to maximize effectiveness of the recruiting process, and stay informed of changes in employment laws and regulations, and HR trends and best practices. Research and present recommendations for improvements to HR policies and processes as needed.

Work jointly with safety and HR Manager regarding leaves of absence, worker’s compensation, and work restrictions and accommodations to ensure compliance and consideration to company policies, procedures, and federal and state laws. Manages FMLA process, reviewing and approving requests, typing verification letters, tracking hours, and answering employee questions. Consults with HR Manager as needed to enforce rules and/or conduct deeper level investigations as needed. Represent and promote the company in a positive manner. Maintain a highly professional manner and style, setting the standard for others to follow. Provide assistance with other HR functions as required. ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

A Bachelor’s degree or Associates with 3+ years experience to the duties and responsibilities specified or equivalent combination of education and experience is required, as well as knowledge and understanding of human resources concepts, practices, policies, and procedures. The ability to maintain high level of confidentiality is essential. Demonstrated ability to engage effectively at all levels of the organization and be a strong contributing member of multiple teams.

Must have a strong working knowledge of multiple HR disciplines including talent management, employee relations, recruitment, performance management, employment law, compliance and compensation. Ability to collaborate effectively with others to influence and implement HR processes, strategies, and programs. Strong relationship development skills resulting in long-term mutually beneficial relationships. Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail; ability to prioritize tasks to meet requirements and time sensitive deadlines. Ability to manage competing demands while being extremely adaptable and flexible; must be organized and able to multi-task in a busy environment.

The right candidate must have experience working with various HRIS, Applicant Tracking Systems, and other HR systems, in addition to strong MS Office skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, and team based project experience. Self-motivated, able to work independently to complete tasks with minimal supervision.

NON ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: SPHR/PHR or SHRM-SCP/CP

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT: Travel to other company sites throughout NH will be required.
