QUALITY CONTROL SUMMARY

Do you have a keen eye for quality produce? Associated Grocers of New England is looking for a quality control inspector that ensures compliance with food safe handlings standards during receiving, storage, returns and shipment of all perishable products. AGNE is the largest retailer-owned, wholesale distribution center in New England and we abide by USDA/FDA standards.

This a full-time, non-exempt position with the following schedule: Monday thru Thursday 4:30am- 1:00pm and Friday 3:30- 12:00pm.

PRODUCE INSPECTOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Inspect inbound produce for compliance to AGNE’s quality guidelines.
Inspect all other inbound perishable product for compliance with temperature and date guidelines.
Review inhouse products for quality, temperature and rotation.
Communicate regularly with procurement about the quality of products.
Maintains records in accordance with established policies and procedures and audit guidelines.
Review all perishable returns for appropriate disposition.
Follow food safe handling policy and procedures.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Physical stamina required: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
Comfortable working in a multi-temperature environment, as low as -20°.
Moderate produce product knowledge.
USDA produce quality training preferred. Will train the right candidate.
Three to five years of wholesale or retail produce experience.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies. This includes both oral and writing skills.
Basic computer skills.
