Associated Grocers is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual with strong time management and strategic thinking skills to join our team as a Safety Specialist. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in safety roles, along with hands-on warehouse experience, and a dynamic personality that engages well with associates at all levels.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading and enhancing our safety program, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations, and proactively identifying and addressing potential risks. Based at our corporate office and 485,000-square-foot, multi-temperature distribution center in Pembroke, NH, this position also requires occasional travel to our fourteen corporate stores across Vermont and New Hampshire to conduct safety audits and provide training.

As part of our Risk Management Department, you will participate in risk management exercises, collaborate with team members on safety initiatives, and enjoy the support of a dedicated team to foster a safe and productive working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

v  Safety Awareness: Develop and foster a proactive safety program that encourages associates at all levels to prioritize safety in their daily work practices.

v  Incident Management: Engage in investigations and reviews of incidents to identify root causes and create actionable recommendations for prevention.

v  Safety Committees: Actively contribute to safety committees, offering insights and feedback to improve workplace safety.

v  Training and Development: Design, schedule, and conduct safety training sessions to ensure associates are well-informed about safety protocols and best practices.

v  Workplace Injuries: Serve as the primary point of contact for workplace injuries, managing communication with associates, insurance carriers, and overseeing the claims process.

v  Collaborative Solutions: Partner with our certified athletic trainer and management to develop and implement innovative solutions to reduce workplace injuries and enhance overall safety.

 

Qualifications:

v  Proven experience in a safety-related role, ideally within a warehouse or retail environment.

v  Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate individuals across all levels of the organization.

v  High attention to detail, self-starter, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

v  Experience in incident investigation, safety training, and interaction with insurance carriers.

v  Capability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including associates, management, and external partners.

v  Proficiency in safety regulations, best practices, and injury prevention strategies.

 

Preferred Skills:

v  Certification in safety management or a related field.

v  Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver effective safety training programs.

v  Experience with MS Office.

v  Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
