POSITION: Health Promotion & Communications Specialist
DEPARTMENT: Public Health and Community Services
HOURS WORKED: 40 hours per week, 8 am to 5 pm

PRIMARY DUTIES
The Health Promotion & Communications Specialist plans, organizes, and implements health promotion and communication strategies in each of the Division’s Departments to enhance education and awareness of health and well-being to improve the health of individuals, the population and the community. Prepares community education outreach tools such as the Division brochure and quarterly newsletter, speaks publicly about program issues and develops communication strategies and information for public distribution; maintains the Division’s web pages and social media presence, and performs various other outreach-based duties to support the Division in promoting public health activities. Works autonomously under the direction of the Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 3 to 5 years relevant experience in health education, marketing and communication or related work experience. Bachelor’s Degree in Health Education or Master’s degree in Public Health; Health Promotion certification or Marketing and/or Communication major preferred. Demonstrated computer literacy to perform the requirements of this position. Knowledge and understanding of community/public health, social marketing and communication as well as municipal government a plus. Experience using Web Design Software, Publisher, Social Media preferred. Must possess strong writing skills.
