HOURS WORKED:            Mon-Fri (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.)

AFFILIATION:                   UAW Clerical/Technical

STARTING SALARY:        Job Grade 8, Wage dependent upon experience

PRIMARY DUTIES

The Vital Records Clerk II responds promptly to customers by telephone, by mail, electronically and/or in person, to all inquiries and provides professional, friendly, and efficient service to meet the needs and expectations of the citizens of Nashua and the public at large. Responsibilities also include registering voters, processing absentee ballots, issuing vital records, and issuing all licenses associated with the City Clerk’s office. Other duties include data entry into city and state computers, filing, processing incoming mail, certifying legal documents, and daily cash receipting and reconciling of fees.   This position will require work in the evenings and weekends, candidate must be available to work extra hours when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or certified equivalent plus one year of schooling in business and a minimum of one to three years of experience in a customer service driven industry is required. Experience in a town or city clerk’s office is preferred.  Must be self-motivated and enjoy working with the public and in a team environment.  Must be accurate, detailed oriented, able to meet deadlines and remain calm when dealing with difficult situations.  Must be proficient in the use of personal computers and MS Office Suite software.  Must be detailed oriented, accurate and accustomed to meeting deadlines.   Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, knowledge of local, state and federal laws and have a very high level of confidentiality. Bi-lingual skills are a plus.
