Waypoint’s Transitional Living Program (TLP) is seeking a live-in volunteer house mentor in Dover, NH to provide positive mentorship and support to young adults, between the ages of 18-21. In exchange for 10-12 hours of support each week, the mentor will receive free rent and utilities including WIFI, as well as a private room, onsite laundry, and parking.
All of our programs at Waypoint are affirming of all types of human beings. Additionally, our programs are supported by Waypoint’s commitment to justice, diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB). We encourage house mentors to be creative, unique, and dynamic, providing a hands-on and interactive approach to support residents. We strongly encourage applicants who have experience working with at-risk youth and young adults who have been faced with trauma, adversity, foster care involvement, incarceration, and mental health. A huge plus if you come with an understanding of Positive Youth Development and Adolescent/Young Adult Development.
Housing Mentors:
*Will commit to at least six months – one year as a mentor
*Must be at least 21 years old
*Must be at a stable place of employment and/or in school
*Will commit to ongoing learning and training opportunities/asking questions/seeking support when needed
*Will be required to inform TLP Manager of requests for time off.
*Will attend TLP team and House Mentor meetings throughout the year
*Maintain a positive perspective on young people and have a passion for working with in-risk youth
*Will meet consistently with the TLP Manager, TLP Care Coordinator and actively collaborate with other Housing Support Staff
*Will agree to work 8-10 hours per week supporting and connecting with residents, meeting contractors or vendors as needed, and participating in chores and other duties as requested by the team
*Will be open to accepting feedback and suggestions
*Will attend monthly life-skills and house meetings with young adults to continue the development
*Must have the ability to set and maintain strong boundaries
*Must be willing to live and support an alcohol/substance-free home.
*Will respond accordingly to safety needs, utilizing support including our on-call system for emergent situations.
*Will receive a quarterly stipend of $125, if all duties and responsibilities are met
House Mentors will be supported and supervised by the TLP Manager and Care Coordinator.
